The observance will start on the eve of the International Day of Peace outside Cardigan Guild Hall, with singing and leafleting – displaying part of a giant Wool against Weapons knitted scarf.

Peace History Conference. Speakers include Cyril Pearce on the COs and opposition to WW1, John Gittings on how the centenary is being interpreted; Ingrid Sharp on German peace activism in WW1; Clive Barrett on the origins of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, and Speaking in Tongues theatre group on the women who went to The Hague in 1915.

Sunset vigil at General Atomics offices
Bring, if you can some flowers and a candle. General Atomics makes armed drones that have been responsible for the deaths of thousands, including many hundreds of children. We will remember the deaths of so many in drone warfare with poetry, a short multifaith ceremony, and readings.
We will also leaflet passers by to let them know about the arms company in the area.

Screening: 'Countdown to Zero',
'Countdown to Zero' reveals the truth behind an issue on which human survival itself hangs- the very real possibility of nuclear disaster. It is a documentary film that traces the history of the atomic bomb, focussing on accidents and false alerts. This is part of our campaign to persuade voters to oppose Trident replacement leading up to the General Election in 2015.
Bar & Refreshments will be available before the film.

Accounts of the Conflict: Digitally Archiving Stories for Peacebuilding.
The conference is a showcase event of the ‘Accounts of the Conflict’ project at INCORE based in the University of Ulster, which is building a digital archive of stories related to the conflict in Northern Ireland. The conference aims to attract both local and international academics, archivists, story gatherers, practitioners and many other interested parties, who have an interest in how storytelling and archiving can contribute to peacebuilding and social change in a range of diverse contexts.
