"Can we scrap Trident and Ban Nuclear Weapons with a Global Treaty?"
Norwich UNA and Norwich CND welcome Dr Rebecca Johnson to discuss this question. This is a unique opportunity to hear a renowned expert on Nuclear Disarmament and the Non-Proliferation Treaty. It is also very timely as the future of the Trident nuclear deterrent is being decided in 2016 at obscene expense.

Out of Silence
With John Harvey.
Most well-known for his Nottingham Resnick series of crime books, John Harvey has had a parallel career, if in a minor key, as a poet and for several years published other poets under his Slow Dancer imprint. With his third and final collection, Out of Silence: new and selected poems he signs off by revisiting his poetry over the decades and reading new material for the first time. John Harvey will be introduced and in discussion with his publisher, Peter Sansom, from Smith/Doorstop, editor of The North.
Stitched Up: capitalism and fashion
With Tansy Hoskins.
Tansy Hoskins dissects fashion’s vampiric relationship with the planet and our bodies. Why does ‘size zero’ exist? Why do most big retailers go for the cheapest garment workers in the developing world? Moving between Karl Lagerfeld and Karl Marx, Tansy dissects the fashion industry. She also asks whether ‘green fashion’ is the way ahead. Is there more to the industry than consumerism, sexism and exploitation. This is about the clothes on our back. 7.00-8.30pm – note earlier time.
The Woman Who Thought Too Much
With Joanne Limburg. Joanne Limburg thinks things she doesn’t want to think, and does things she doesn’t want to do. As a young woman, obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours had come to completely dominate her life. She knew that something was wrong, but it would take many painful years of searching to find someone who could explain her symptoms. The Woman Who Thought Too Much is a vividly honest, beautifully told and darkly witty memoir about the quest to understand and manage a life with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Joanne will be reading from her memoir, and discussing OCD.
