1914: Remembering Kingston at War
Exhibition at Kingston Museum, marking the centenary of the start of the First World War and recognising the involvement of Kingston residents in that conflict. It is open during museum opening hours: Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Thursdays from 10am to 7pm.
The Sound of Chaplin
The Sound of Chaplin - Charlie Chaplin's First World War feature Shoulder Arms accompanied by original and new scores with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Timothy Brock conductor. The surreal feature-length Shoulder Arms is described as ‘one of the great World War One movies’ and established Chaplin’s reputation, yet is now rarely seen.
Tull
The play tells the inspiring story of Walter Tull, a man of mixed race who overcome enormous obstacles to become the first black professional footballer for Spurs and the first black officer in the British Army during World War I.

A People's History of Scotland
Book event with Chris Bambery.
Chris Bambery, a leading figure in the Scottish Independence campaign, will speak about his new book A People's History of Scotland, which delves into the real and oft-forgotten history of Scotland.

Britain Needs a Pay Rise
The Trades Union Congress is organising a mass demonstration in London under the banner of Britain Needs a Pay Rise: http://tinyurl.com/kv7fk5g The demonstration will highlight public spending cuts and will be a great opportunity for peace groups to raise the issue of spending on war, nuclear weapons etc rather than on the health service, education, housing etc.
CND will be organising a big Scrap Trident bloc this day, prior to the CND Annual Conference on 19th. The demonstration will march through central London, culminating in a rally in Hyde Park. www.cnduk.org

A Night For HYSTERIA
An evening to celebrate feminist performance and participate in an ever-broadening discussion about the scope of feminism, all while securing the survival of HYSTERIA. The money raised at this event will cover the printing expenses of the 3rd issue of HYSTERIA.

Protest Liverpool's arms fair
This year U.D.T. 2014 [ Underwater ‘Defence’ Technology ] arms fare and conference will take place in Liverpool. This is an event which its organisers describe as: ‘The global event for underwater defence and security’. It is an arms fair. Merseyside Peace Network will be holding a protest outside of the event from 08:30. on the morning of June 10th. "On the last day of U.D.T., June 12th 2014, a wreath will be presented to the organisers of the arms fare in memory of all those who will be killed as a result U.D.T. 2014".

Scottish literature event - CANCELLED
There are many Scotlands! With the referendum due tomorrow, we celebrate all the literatures of Scotland Readings in Gaelic, Doric, Border Scots, Norn – and Standard English by Scots writers, as well as from the Scottish diaspora. We’ll include the historic spoken languages of the country and represent the literature of new immigrants to Scotland. Readings from a group of exiles, who might not all vote the same way tomorrow, but love the literature of the country. Tickets: £3 on the door, redeemable against any purchase on the night, including a tot of whisky or a glass of Irn Bru.

Crisis: The Greeks Have a word for it.
