A joint book event for two titles considering two aspects of Suffragette history: Connelly’s books looks in detail at the life of Sylvia Pankhurst, whilst Liddington’s book tells the story of the Suffragette’s controversial campaign to boycott the census.

Routes to Peace - Annual Big Sing for Peace.
Come and join hundreds of children and community members singing for peace in City Park, Bradford. Workshops for children will be offered in cultural venues across the City Centre, including the Peace Museum. The ‘Big Sing’ will also be a warm up for the Bradford Festival which commences later the same day!
Renewable energy under fire; is it reliable, affordable or sustainable, and is it the future?
With David Collins. Politicians regularly denigrate renewables in response to powerful lobbyists, and hint at power blackouts and increased energy bills to steer voters towards an energy manifesto based on fossil fuel, nuclear and fracking. David Collins has been Head of Biogas at the Renewable Energy Association since 2004, and has been active in implementing measures to kick start and support the biogas industry in the UK which now has over 150 working plants producing electricity, heat, green gas and soil fertiliser.

With Professor Marko Bojcun and Chris Ford. Recent events in Ukraine have given rise to international concern, and relations between Russia and the West have seriously deteriorated. Marko Bojcun, the Adjunct Professor of Politics at New York University in London, and author and political commentator Chris Ford, will discuss this complex situation and its implications with us. Marko Bojcun is a researcher on the contemporary politics, economics and international relations of Ukraine.

People are invited to tell us their stories of both WW1 and WW2 conscientious objection. This is part of a WW1 project which Leicester CND are doing with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund called 'Memories in Conflict, resistance to war, before, during and after WW1, explored through Leicester's memories.'. Early next year we will produce a book and an education resource. Along the way we plan to hold events.

With John Gittings. John Gittings is the author of ‘The Glorious Art of Peace’, from the Iliad to the present day, and in retirement from the Guardian as Far East correspondent and leader writer on Far East issues he is closely involved in the debate on the commemoration of WW1.

The War to End All Wars? The Anti-War Perspective.
This day-school in York aims to provide an alternative to government plans for a 'celebration of the national spirit'; to counter romantic, populist, nationalist propaganda, and bad history which serve to facilitate future wars; and to offer explanation in place of commemoration. Speakers include: Lindsey German, John Rees, Cyril Pearce, Charlie McGuire, Chris Fuller and Owen Clayton.
