The organisation "Workaid" is committed to tackling poverty in a practical way by helping disadvantaged people overseas and in the UK, to help themselves through practical skills training. Unwanted tools and equipment are collected from all over the UK and refurbished by a team of dedicated volunteers at the Workaid workshop.

A rare chance to hear Occitan poet Aurelia Lassaque read her poems from her new book ‘Solstice and other poems’, translated into English by James Thomas. Aurelia will be joined for guest readings from Amy Key, SJ Fowler, Jessica Pujol and Nia Davies.
The event is hosted by Francis Boutle, specialists in poetry from endangered language. Entry is free but please email the publisher at info@francisboutle.co.uk, so they have an idea of numbers.

2013 UK Pilgrimage for Peace and Economic Justice.
The Pilgrimage from Scotland and down the east side of England aims to focus public attention on the Government proposals to spend £100 billion pounds renewing the Trident nuclear weapons system, while continuing to slash NHS, education and social welfare budgets. It will be organised in stages, and people will be invited to join in walking as many or few stages as they can manage.

All Roads Lead to Guantanamo Bay - a mystery tour.
There have been 11 years of torture, rendition and arbitrary detention at Guantanamo Bay. To mark the 11th anniversary of this injustice, the London Guantanamo Campaign will hold a 'mystery tour' across London, recounting the journey of 11 prisoners and visiting the embassies involved in torture flights and extraordinary rendition, leading up to a candlelight vigil outside the US Embassy at 6pm.
