Stop the Arms Fair, Direct Action Planning day!
In Australia, a concerted campaign of direct action stopped their arms fair in 2008. In the UK, a huge arms fair is threatened to take place in September, which would bring together 28,000 arms buyers and sellers. But we too can show that it is not welcome and that we will do whatever we can to stop it.
In the last year, direct action has persuaded the National Gallery to end its ties with the arms trade; it has meant arms dealers events have been cancelled and relocated; and campaigns at factories have disrupted weapons manufacture.

Call for an Anti-Militarist Action against the G8
The West End is one of London's financial centres and London is at the
heart of global capitalism. The West End hosts private banks for London's wealthy elites, private investment funds and PR companies to handle the reputational issues of the city's corporations and mega rich. All of this is carried on behind closed doors, however the West End is also host to the private members' clubs and cocktail bars where the powerful flaunt their wealth.

The G8 have some of the highest military budgets in the world. Five of the world's top six arms exporters are G8 countries, fuelling conflict and human rights abuses around the world. On the eve of a day of action on militarism, take part in this event to learn more and find ways to challenge the catastrophic commitment to arming the world and privatising warfare.

Brent Stop the War meeting
Trident spending in a time of austerity.....time to shift priorities?
Current spending on nuclear weapons is around £3 billion per year. With that money we could build 30,000 new homes every year, creating 60,000 new jobs in construction. Or we could quadruple our investment in renewable energy.
Anne-Marie O'Reilly, outreach co-ordinator, Campaign Against the Arms Trade will talk about the cost both human and financial of the arms trade and nuclear weapons and the growing call to shift priorities away from military spending and instead fund human needs.
