Stop the War will host an evening of appreciations, memories, spoken word, film and music to celebrate the life and politics of Tony Benn, the former president of the Stop the War Coalition who passed away in March.

The politics of the Imperial War Graves Commission 1917–1939
With Michèle Barrett. The official British war graves policy was equality. In practice, outside Europe there was discrimination against non-white combatants and labourers, many of whom were simply not commemorated. Michèle gives examples from the Indian Army and from the campaigns in Africa, and raises the issue: whose war graves commission was it?

Week of Action: Report the Crimes of Trident
Between 1 – 7 July, concerned citizens across the country will demand that law enforcers make sure that the various crimes - including crimes against humanity and war crimes-being planned and prepared for at Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) Aldermaston and AWE Burghfield in Berkshire are properly investigated by the police.

Routes to Peace - Annual Big Sing for Peace.
Come and join hundreds of children and community members singing for peace in City Park, Bradford. Workshops for children will be offered in cultural venues across the City Centre, including the Peace Museum. The ‘Big Sing’ will also be a warm up for the Bradford Festival which commences later the same day!
Renewable energy under fire; is it reliable, affordable or sustainable, and is it the future?
With David Collins. Politicians regularly denigrate renewables in response to powerful lobbyists, and hint at power blackouts and increased energy bills to steer voters towards an energy manifesto based on fossil fuel, nuclear and fracking. David Collins has been Head of Biogas at the Renewable Energy Association since 2004, and has been active in implementing measures to kick start and support the biogas industry in the UK which now has over 150 working plants producing electricity, heat, green gas and soil fertiliser.
