Speaker: Richard Glover. With his unwavering quest for social justice, Henry George defined capital in terms of wealth, and wealth in terms of what humans produce from nature. He thereby helped remove our confusion of land being either wealth or capital and pointed the way to a more just society. Unfortunately, we did not follow.
A few economists of today aspire to go "beyond GDP" by augmenting this narrow measure of progress with indicators of both sustainability and wellbeing. They hold a rather different concept of capital. In this talk, Richard will explore various concepts of capital as well as considerations of how George can still inform today's search for social justice.
