The work of Turkey’s national poet Nazim Hikmet brought to life by the unique Songlines Choir in London’s most atmospheric venue.
The Songlines choir, based at Highbury’s celebrated Union Chapel, presents its most successful and original work to date: The Ballad Of Those Who Drink The Sun. The original cantata, composed for the centenary of Nazim Hikmet's birth in 2002, has been updated and revised with several new stirring compositions that reflect the turbulent times of mass global protest, the search for alternatives and the desperate race to save our natural world. The 40-strong choir will be accompanied by some of London’s most renowned musicians including Nick Bowers-Broadbent on piano and violin, and Kate Shortt on cello.
