We need a bold ambitious target both for the UK to fulfill its responsibilities to the rest of the world - especially the poorest and most vulnerable - and to do our very best to jog the rest of the world - especially the rich and powerful - into getting serious about an effective international agreement to bring down greenhouse gas emissions globally.
Organise a fun event in your area for this Nationwide Day of Action to promote the goal of a Zero Carbon Britain by 2030.

Community - Built It or Break It?

Sat, 28/04/2012 - 14:00 - 17:00
Town/City:
London

The riots of August 2011 raise a number of issues for Quakers. We saw protesters cause a great deal of destruction and communities come together to clear up afterwards. Yet some of us may be more sympathetic to the motives than the methods (or vice versa) in each case.
In this dialogue we seek to address some difficult questions:
What we do understand by “community?”
What binds a community together? Is it the ideas which its members share, or what they do together?
Do we see ourselves as part of a local community, or as a community of Friends apart from it?
