This workshop takes you through the campaigning essentials. A campaign strategy does not have to be a lengthy, complex document. In fact a good campaign strategy is often no more than a couple of sides of A4.

An ‘elevator pitch’ is a concise verbal description of your campaign, designed to inspire policymakers, journalists and other audiences to support your campaign. A good campaign elevator pitch should last no longer than 45 seconds (try doing it right now – it’s not easy is it?!).

If you want to lobby Government to introduce or change legislation it is essential for you to understand how Parliament works and key Parliamentary processes. This workshop will introduce you to many of the key mechanisms and access points that are available to campaigners to try to influence the Government through Parliamentary means.

This workshop is suitable for: Individuals who have no previous experience of making Freedom of Information requests. Anyone from a large or small charity or campaign group (even if you’re not a registered charity). 1.30pm – 5.00pm (Please arrive no later than 1.15pm for registration)

Whether you are a grassroots campaign or a large charity, getting grant funding for your campaign has a different set of challenges to getting other kinds of funding. A 9 day residential workshop in rural Devon. This workshop offers personal and collective tools to make our activism more effective. The course is offered by the ecodharma collective (www.ecodharma.com) and Seeds for Change (www.seedsforchange.org.uk). Bursaries may be available.

Are you a grassroots organiser / activist wondering where to find the strength to keep going? Working on the front lines of a campaign can be emotionally confusing and energetically draining. Often, our focus on the challenges at hand can leave little room for the challenges within ourselves and can disconnect us from our original motivations. This open workshop is for people who are, have been, or would like to be, active in grassroots movements.
Donations for the facilitation are welcome, but not obligatory. Lunch will be provided for a donation of up to £4.

Social movements in Britain have long talked about being inclusive, anti-oppressive, diverse and non-hierarchical. However, many people who would be part of a strong and diverse movement are currently marginalised, while others aren't yet aware of how their behaviour can exclude others. This weekend is an opportunity to reflect deeply on our own power; where it comes from and how we use it.
