Hiroshima Day
Hiroshima Commemoration
Hiroshima Commemoration at 12noon in Hereford Cemetery, by the cherry tree given to the cemetery by the Peace Council.
Fast Against Nuclear Weapons
In the final year before the decision on Trident replacement, the fast will take place near the seats of military and political power in Britain: Whitehall, Downing Street, the Ministry of Defence.
Lantern Floating Ceremony
A Peace Memorial held on the banks of the River Cam in Cambridge to reflect and float peace lanterns in memory of all who died as a result of the atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
The event traditionally begins with the communal making of peace lanterns, followed by space for silent reflection and sharing short readings and poems.

Join Mid Somerset CND to float candles in the Bishop's Palace Moat. They will be floating candles in origami boats at dusk to remember those who died and to say ‘Never Again’ to nuclear weapons being used.
Lewes CND Hiroshima & Nagasaki Commemoration
Lewes CND invites everyone to join our commemoration of those who died and all who became ill as a result of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, as well as all those since who have suffered the ill effects of nuclear power. Join Lewes CND to float candles – please bring or make your own floating candle.

Please come to Kingston Peace Council/CND’s commemoration – on the river bank, Canbury Gardens at 8.30 pm. Bring white flowers to float on the river or boats with night-lights.

Leeds City Council's / Peacelink Group's Hiroshima-Nagasaki event takes place by the M4P memorial, Park Square.

The Irish national commemoration of Hiroshima and Nagasaki will take place in Merrion Square, Dublin at 1.05pm led by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin.

Stirling's official commemoration begins at 7pm in the Peace Garden, Pullar Memorial Park, Bridge of Allan.

Renfrewshire CND's annual event will begin at 7pm in the Peace Garden in Barshaw Park. Meet at the car park off Glasgow Road by the park.

Assemble at the Great Western Gates of Glasgow Botanical Garden at 7pm and walk via Byres Road and Dumbarton Road to the peace tree at Kelvingrove Park.

Edinburgh CND's event begins at 6pm at the Mound (Princes St) for the official Hiroshima commemoration. Following this at 7pm there will be a gathering by the Peace Pole in Edinburgh Peace & Justice Centre, St John's Church (corner of Princes St / Lothian Road).

As part of Dundee Peace Festival the official Dundee event will begin at 8.15pm at Law Road and walk up the Law Hill.

Aberdeen's event is at the Fisherman's Hut on the River Dee, Riverside Drive with the floating of peace lanterns and a full civic event.

Yorkshire CND / Bradford's civic Hiroshima-Nagasaki event takes place in Norfolk Gardens, behind the Town Hall.

The Lord Mayor of Manchester will lead a solemn ceremony of commemoration. Lincoln Square, Brasenose Street, Manchester City Centre. (In front of the Abraham Lincoln statue, close to Albert Square)

To remember all those whodied and suffered as a result of the atomic bombs dropped in 1945, and in the firm belief that it must never happen again. All are welcome to meet at the bandstand for readings a period of silent reflection and the dropping of flowers on the river – bring white flowers if you wish.
