The dropping of the first atomic bomb is referred to on the Peace Memorial in Hiroshima as “the mistake”. Through the lives of a brilliant Hungarian scientist, a daring American pilot and a devoted Japanese daughter, this powerful new play explores the events surrounding the catastrophic ‘mistake’ that launched our nuclear age. Featuring two actors – one British and one Japanese – and partly using verbatim testimonies, THE MISTAKE examines the dangers that arise when humans dare to unlock the awesome power of nature.
