November 6th is the International Day of Action Against Depleted Uranium Weapons. It is also the United Nations' Day for Prevention of the Exploitation of the Environment during Wars and Armed Conflicts.
The Ministry of Defence has fired DU into the Solway Firth as a part of its test firing programme for over 30 years. Over 31 tons of DU remain at the bottom of the Firth while the MOD have no idea how this impacts ecosystems.
CADU will hold the Day of Action Against Depleted Uranium Weapons on the Dundrennan Range. We will walk on to the range en masse and release (biodegradable) balloons with messages of solidarity to all of those suffering the effects of toxic wars in Iraq.
