A celebrated scientist and public intellectual, Bernal was also a key figure in the international peace movement, acting as President of the World Peace Council from 1959-1965. The Bernal Peace Collection at the Marx Memorial Library provides a fascinating insight into Bernal’s work as a peace activist on the post-war global stage, as well as the growth of Britain’s peace movement during the same period.
