London Pacifism and Nonviolence Discussion Group.

You don’t have to be a committed pacifist or nonviolentist to join in – meetings are open to anyone interested.
Events usually revolve around a particular topic chosen by participants at an earlier meeting. Anyone taking part can suggest topics for future meetings.

The forthcoming meeting topics will be: 12 February: Nonviolence and Tolerance, and on the 12 March: Pacifism and Centralisation.

Witness and protest

Embassies Walk.

Join Christian CND on a walk to various London Embassies of nuclear-weapons states to discuss their countries' progress with nuclear disarmament and (probably) some of the non-nuclear states as well to discuss what plans they have for the forthcoming conferences on nuclear disarmament. Walk or take a bus!
Will start at St Martin-in-the-Fields for an optional short prayer service followed by briefings in the cafe. All faiths and none welcome. Join us for a single visit or the whole walk (walks are split into three routes).

Timings, routes, embassies to visit will be decided in due course.

LSE, Internationalism, and Peace, 1914-1945

This lecture will examine the LSE’s experience during and after the First World War, considering in particular the emergence of the modern internationalist movement and the League of Nations. It will also examine the School’s role in confronting the challenges to the League during the 1930s, and in the developments leading to the League’s replacement by the UN.
