Speakers: Margaret Burr and Ros Kane. Part of the Leytonstone Festival. 2023 was the year when only the third woman won the Nobel Prize for Economics, the 225th anniversary of the publication of Priscilla Wakefield’s only volume for adults, Reflections on the Present Condition of the Female Sex in which she became the first woman to respond to Adam Smith’s failure to include women in his economic theory, & the establishment of the Tottenham Female Benefit Club & Children's Bank. Margaret is a community historian in Tottenham. Ros will talk about another exceptional, brave innovator, Anna Kingsford (1846-88), born in Stratford. www.priscillawakefield.uk
