From January to December 2009 Turning the Tide
will offer monthly workshops in nonviolent methods and practices. Suitable
for social change activists, it is available as a year-long course or one-off

LONDON. A new seven week course exploring the ways in which we as
individuals can bring peace into the world by creating peace within our own
hearts. It draws on wisdom from Buddhism, Christian, Hindu, Islam and Judaic
traditions and offers an unusual opportunity to enter into a deeper form of
dialogue in a mixed faith group. Each evening has a specific theme and will
include time for personal reflection, working on ourselves, dialogue and
sharing, inspiration and periods of shared silence. Cost: £57(including

Peace-building. The world renowned conflict specialist John Paul Lederach,
sees peace-building as an expression of our moral imagination. Bringing this
imagination alive depends on four key factors: our ability to maintain the
relational web, to cultivate ‘paradoxical curiosity’, making space for
creativity, and the courage to take risks. How do we express these capacities

Concert. This unique workshop uses simple musical activities to explore how
we relate to music from different cultures, and the role of music in

Conflict. This short introductory course provides a glimpse into the field of
civilian 'conflict work': What is it? Who does it? What do you need to be
able to do it? How do you get into it? As well as trying to answer these
questions, the course will give participants the opportunity to explore more
deeply whether this kind of work is something they may want to go into at
some point in their lives. This course will help you understand what is

course is designed to familiarise participants with a conflict sensitive
approach to programming. It will follow the programme/project cycle and offer
participants a practical way to implement conflict sensitivity into each of
the 3 stages in the life of a programme – starting with the planning process,
through implementation, to the monitoring and evaluation phase. The course is

and local and international actors in order to achieve these objectives. You
will be assigned an ‘observer’ for the weekend who will give you personal

election observation missions, providing an insight into the nature of the
